Pirates Steer Past Generals in Coaches v. Cancer Game
Pirate Baseball traveled to Clarksville to face the Generals in a
critical conference rebound game Thursday night. The game was also
designated as Baseball's Coaches v. Cancer game and broadcasted by Pirate
Pride Sports Broadcasting. The Pirates (8-6 & 3-2 MSC) scored four
runs on six hits and held the Generals (4-11 & 2-3 MSC) to one run on two
hits to capture the victory 4-1.
Freshman Tyler Willinger led the offensive charge with a double in
the third, behind near perfect pitching by Senior Tyler Rhodes.
The win moves the Pirates into a three-way tie for third in the MSC, but
just one game out of first place Silver Creek and Corydon. The Pirates
return home Monday to host the Silver Creek Dragons for a share of the
conference lead, just past the midway point. First pitch is scheduled

Pirates Beat Warriors, on the MSC Road, 10-1
Pirate Baseball traveled to Scottsburg Thursday evening for a
critical MSC rebound after Monday's North Harrison setback. The
Pirates (7-5 overall) dominated the home-standing Warriors, scoring ten runs
on eleven hits, while committing only one error, while Senior Tyler
Rhodes pitched a complete game. The 10-1 victory evens the
Pirate's conference standings
to 2 and 2, which keeps the Pirates in the hunt; currently tied with four
other teams in fourth place.
"A
very much needed win last night. We played real well and got a great
pitching performance from Tyler. Hopefully, we can use this night as a
start to playing some consistent fundamental baseball",
commented Coach Romans. The Pirates will travel to Switzerland County
Indiana on Saturday for a double-header match-up outside the Mid-Southern
Conference race.
The first game is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Coyne and Rhodes Lift
Pirates Over #6 Rebels of South Central
Pirate
Baseball hosted the Class 1A #6 South Central Rebels Friday night
at the Charlestown Little League Park. The contest marked the third
year in a row the Rebels have tangled with the Pirates while ranked in
Indiana Class 1A standings. Like the prior two years, the Pirates (6-4
/ 1-1 MSC) managed to produce the offense needed to pull out a win over a
recently successful program. Charlestown's Tyler Rhodes got the
win on the mound in impressive and commanding fashion, holding a normally
high producing offensive squad to just four hits on the evening. The
Pirates finished with three runs on three hits, including a homer by Junior
Steven Coyne
to lift the Pirates to victory, 3 to 1. "Tyler
Rhodes threw an exceptional game tonight! He had great command of his
pitches and went right at their hitters. Overall, it was just a real good
effort tonight! Steven Coyne did a great job of sparking our offense when
we needed it as well. He really took advantage of his opportunity and came
up big for us tonight!", commented Coach Romans after the victory.
The Cougars of North Harrison
visit the Pirates Monday for an important Mid-Southern Conference clash at
the Charlestown Little League Park, first pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.
Pirate baseball home games will be played at the Charlestown Little League
complex due to the new high school construction.

Pirates Open Conference with 7th Inning Come Back Victory
Pirate
Baseball hosted the Eastern High School Musketeers of Pekin Monday night
at the Charlestown Little League Park. The contest was the
Mid-Southern Conference season opener for both squads. Charlestown
(5-3 / 1-0 MSC) rallied from a one run
deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning, winning 4 to 3 when Junior DH
Matt Hall was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Senior
Pitcher Bryan Williams threw a complete game allowing 3 earned runs,
while walking two, and striking out eight. Offensively, the Pirates were
lead by Sophomore Catcher Billy Hutsell, who went 2-4 including 2
RBI's; and Junior first baseman Devan Thorstad, who added a solo
homerun. The game set the Musketeers' overall record to an even four
wins and four loses, early in the season. The Pirates will next travel
to Corydon for an all important 5:00 pm conference contest versus the
Panthers this Thursday, then return home Friday afternoon for a rainout
makeup game versus Class 1A #6 South Central (4-1). Pirate baseball
home games will be played at the Charlestown Little League complex due to
the new high school construction.
