05/24/10: 

Lady Pirates Advance to Sectional Semi-Final Thursday

Defeat North Harrison 8-5 in Monday's First Round

The Lady Pirate Softball Team traded punches with the Lady Kats for the first six innings before putting together a winning rally in the top of the seventh.  Freshman Alli Webster pitched a complete game for the win, including eight strike-outs.  The Lady Pirates committed no errors versus the five of North Harrison's infield.  Senior Amanda Miller's double RBI single began the Lady Pirate offense in the fifth, erasing a two run deficit.  After a bottom of the fifth three run home run by North Harrison's Short Stop, Junior Brittany Bennison and Senior McKinnah Bussey both answered in the top of the 7th inning with RBI singles for the final go ahead runs.  The Lady Pirates denied a Lady Kat hit in the bottom of the 7th to secure the victory and advance to Thursday's Sectional semi-final round.  The Lady Pirates will face sectional host Silver Creek, who drew the bye, in Thursday's first semi-final, scheduled for 5:30 pm at Silver Creek High School.  Listen to the game live, but only if you absolutely can't make the short drive to Sellersburg, at www.CharlestownPiratePride.com/Broadcasting.htm.   Click here to view the Class 3A Softball Sectional Pairings.  Congratulations and Good Luck Thursday night Lady Pirates!  

05/23/10: 

Lady Pirates Open Softball Sectional versus North Harrison

Game Scheduled for 6:00 pm Monday evening at Silver Creek

The Lady Pirate Softball Team will open Class 3A Sectional play Monday, May 24th, at 6:00 pm, at Silver Creek High School, versus North Harrison.  The Lady Pirates finished the regular season on a high note, increasing their record to 15 and 9 when winning the Charlestown Invitational Tournament Saturday at the Charlestown Little League Park.  The Lady Pirates finished the regular season winning 8 of their final 10 contests.  Complete Lady Pirate Softball Sectional coverage begins live Monday evening at 5:45 pm with Charlestown Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting.  Listen to the game live, and only if you absolutely can't make the short drive to Silver Creek High School,  by going to www.CharlestownPiratePride.com/Broadcasting.htm.   Click here to view the Class 3A Softball Sectional Pairings.  Good Luck Lady Pirates!  

05/15/10: 

Lady Pirate Softball on a Roll, Defeat Eastern 8-3

Draw North Harrison in Softball Sectional

The Lady Pirate Softball Team traveled to Pekin Thursday evening to close out Mid-Southern Conference play versus the Lady Musketeers (2-7 in the MSC).  The Lady Pirates (12 - 7 & 6 - 3 MSC) dominated Eastern, scoring 8 runs on 14 hits, while Freshman pitcher Alli Webster, got the win giving up only 6 hits and striking out 6.  Webster also finished four for four including a double at bat; while Senior Amanda Miller finished  2-3 at bat, including a triple and two RBI's.  The Lady Pirates finished MSC play 6-3 on the season, in a three-way tie for third place.  The Lady Pirates have won 8 of their last 9 contests, including seven straight going into Monday's home game versus the Jeffersonville Lady Devils.  The Lady Pirates will open Class 3A Sectional play Monday, May 24th, 5:00 pm, at Silver Creek High School, versus North Harrison.  Click here to view the Class 3A Softball Sectional Pairings.  Listen to the game live on Pirate Pride Sports Broadcasting at www.CharlestownPiratePride.com/Broadcasting.htm.  

04/29/10: 

Lady Pirates Ground Eagles in Conference Contest

The Lady Pirate Softball team hosted the Lady Eagles of Austin Thursday evening in an important conference match-up.  Senior Amanda Miller contributed a double, an in the park home run, and pitched a complete game, complimented by strong team defense to hold Austin scoreless to a 9-0 final score.  Freshman Alli Webster also contributed a double, while Senior McKinnah Bussey hit two single shots to provide to much offense for the visitors.  Coach Zollman commented that he was pleased with everyone getting to play and minimizing errors.  The Lady Pirates travel to Madison Monday for an out-of-conference contest.

04/15/10: 

Lady Pirates Blank Scottsburg in Conference Play 6-0

The Lady Pirates hit the diamond running Thursday night, hosting the Warriorettes in Mid-Southern Conference play at the Charlestown Little League Park.  Freshman Pitcher Ali Webster got the win, finishing the game with eight strike-outs while the team defense prohibited a visitor score on eight hits.  The Lady Pirates were led by Junior Tyler Brafford's perfect 3 for 3 at the plate, including two RBI's.  Junior Kelsie Houchens' 2 for 3 hitting and Senior McKinnah Bussey's 2 for 4 hitting, both including doubles to the outfield, rounded out a very balanced effort by the Lady Pirates.  "I was glad to play deep into the roster tonight, would have liked to gone deeper, earlier but we didn't get there.  Overall, I'm pleased with a solid conference win", commented Head Coach Kevin Zollman at the conclusion of the contest.  The Lady Pirates (4-3 & 2-2 MSC) return to action Friday night, as they travel to Perry Central for a Varsity and Junior Varsity showdown outside the MSC.  The Lady Pirates return home next Thursday to challenge the Clarksville Lady Generals.
